Welcome to the LVP!

You'll notice that the links at the side & the messages on this forum are written in French.  However, everyone here is eager to welcome & help you in either of Canada's official languages.  No French knowledge is required!  We're all here to help!  (Well, except maybe Pepe, who has been known to make some pretty lopsided offers to new GMs Wink). Also, the software that we use and the stats / rosters it generates on the league website are all in English.

Here's an article on how the player ratings work.  Please note that this takes you to a website that is NOT our league.  https://hbhl.info/news/rates.php

Each offseason, player ratings are automatically adjusted by the software.  Each individual skill stat can change a little, or a lot.  The only two that will never change are DU & DI.

A player's overall rating will change each offseason based on the player's age as follows:
18-29: Likely +1.  Player OVs may also stay the same or change +/-2.  I don't think I've ever seen a player regress at this age.  (any OV ratings that change +/-3 or more will be adjusted).
30-32: Will stay the same or +/-1.  (any changes +/-2 or greater will be adjusted)
33-36: Likely -1 or -2.  If they stay the same, consider yourself lucky.  (Ratings that change more than this will be adjusted)
37+: Freefall!  Prepare for -2 to -5.  (No OVs will be adjusted for this age group, for better or worse!)
** In order to manually correct players overall rating to fit the chart, a player's individual skills will be adjusted by the league.

Current Rosters are available by clicking the Alignements link on the left side of the page.

Current Standings are available by clicking the Classement link on the left side of the page.

Available teams are: Canucks, Devils, Maple Leafs, Red Wings, Whalers

To visit the main page of the forum, click here: https://ligueduvieuxpoil.forumactif.com/

To send lines, install this first: http://ligueduvieuxpoil.com/simulation/gmeditor.zip
and then this: http://ligueduvieuxpoil.com/simulation/gmeditor_v1.5beta1.zip

There is a link called "Envoi des lignes" (send lines) at the top of the main page of the forum. Click this to download lines as needed (start of the year, when injuries happen or heal, start of playoffs). Then use GM Editor to adjust your roster (scratch players, send them down to the minors, call them up) & your lineup.

1. Minimum number of players per organization
Teams must carry a minimum of 8 LW, 8 RW, 8 C, 12 D and 4 G per organization (PRO + farm combined).  If you're making a trade or changing a player's potision, make sure make sure you still have the required number of players at each position.  Keep in mind, you may also lose a player to waivers, so having extra players at each position is a good idea.

Fine: $250,000 per day.  (If you fall below the minimum # of players due to losing a player via waivers, you'll have a grace period of 2 sims before being fined).

2. Minimum Team OV 70
Teams must have a minimum TEAM OVERALL of 70 OV for their PRO club.  Note that the software doesn't round up when calculating Team OV.  If your Team OV is 68.999999, it will display as 68, which will be considered breaking the rule.

1st offence: $1M fine.  72 hours to fix the situation.
2nd offence: $2M fine. 72 hours to fix the situation.
3rd offence: $3M fine & 2nd round draft pick forfeited.  72 hours to fix the situation.
4th offence: 1st round draft pick forfeited.
Teams who have already traded these draft picks will lose their draft picks for the following year.

3. Salary floor ($18M)
1st offence = warning
2nd offence = $1M fine & 3rd round draft pick forfeited.
3rd offence = $2M fine & 2nd round draft pick forfeited.
4th offence & higher = $2M fine each time & 1st round draft pick forfeited.  penalty of 2 million + loss of first choice in repechage
Teams who have already traded these draft picks will lose their draft picks for the following year.

4. PRO clause & Waivers
A player with PRO clause can be waived once a year only.  If this player is traded, the new team can also waive the player once per year.
Fine: 500 000$ per offence

5. Finances
a. The salary floor is $18 million. There is no cap.

b. Farm Bonuses will be awarded based on Farm Standings each off-season.

c. You can buyout players who are about to enter the final season of their contract.  During the off-season, make a post in the Contrats : "Rachat de contrat" discussion, with any players you'd like to buyout.  Buying a player out costs 2/3 of his remaining salary.

d. Rules for Clubs with Financial Problems
These rules apply to teams who have $0 in current funds or -$5M in projected funds after 21 games.

a) Any trades made must help your financial situation (getting rid of salary, receiving money in trades, etc.)
b) You can only claim players from waivers who are making the minimum salary
c) You can only offer UFAs the minimum salary
d) At the midway point of the season (41 games), if your Projected Funds are below -$5M, you will be asked to shed salary in order to fix your financial situation.  If you do not, the league will take one of your good players & put it up for auction.  The league will decide which offers are the best for your club & show you these.  You will have to take one.  The league won't necessarily pick an overpaid player who isn't tradeable.  The league will choose a good player with good trade value if necessary.

6. Pro Lineup
You must dress 20 players per game, including a minimum of:
- 3 C
- 3 LW
- 3 RW
- 6 D
- 2 G

Rebuilding teams (teams with a Team OV of 71 or less) must use their best players & their best lineup possible.  This means your players with the highest OV at each position must play on the 1st line / 1st D pair etc.  You can also use the Auto Line button to have the software set your lines for you.  Whatever lines the software gives you will be accepted.  You can also ask another GM to do an Auto Line for you.

The league reserves the right to click Auto Line for teams who have less than 20 players dressed for 2 consecutive games.

7. Participation
The more you participate, the more fun it is for everyone, meaning set your lines, chat on the forum, draft players, sign contracts, etc.

You do not have to make trades to show that you're participating.  However, please respond to offers made by other GMs, even just to say, "No thanks." or "I'm not interested."  Visit the forum often.  Please, no whining.  Running a league takes a lot of work.  Mistakes happen.  Everything will be done for the general good of the league.  We are very open to suggestions & honest enough to recognize our mistakes.  Please try to be kind & respectful to those helping to run the league & to your fellow GMs.

8. Waivers
All players age 24 & up must clear waivers to start the season.  At this time, check each team's farm roster on the Rosters page to see who is available.  (After the season has started, any players sent down to the minors will be listed on a separate Waivers page ("Ballotage" in French) that you can get to from the league's home page: http://ligueduvieuxpoil.com/index.html

We'll keep a running priority list of teams in the Announcements (Annonces) section of the forum.  Waiver order is the reverse order of last year's standings.  Each time a team claims a player they drop to the bottom of the list.  You have 2 days to claim a player.  If multiple players are waived on the same day, you can only claim one of them.

A player who is waived on Day 1 will appear on your roster following Day 3.  The software will put the player on your farm team & you'll be required to manually call him up.

Waivers are inactive after the trade deadline.  (The software doesn't recognize this, but rest assured, it's a league rule).

9. RFA contracts
RFAs are any player who is 29 & younger in the final year of their contract.  The league has created a salary chart for RFA contracts.  The cbased on the player's average OV for the duration of their contract.  It's posted on the forum under Contrats > Nouvelle charte pour les RFA.

The UFA numbers on the chart refer to players who are signing RFA contracts that take them into UFA age (30+).

Max length of contract: 5 years (3 for prospects signing their entry level contract).

You can give RFA (or UFA players) pro clauses in their contracts.  Naturally, they have to stay on your pro roster.  Anyone who signs a contract while their OV is 70+ at age 24+ automatically has a pro clause.  UFAs who risk regressing below this OV will have $1 added to their contract to make it easier for everyone to see which players have pro clauses on the roster page (players whose salary ends in a 1, not a 0).  Players with pro clauses can be scratched (and of course traded).  As mentioned, they can only be waived once a season & will have to be recalled if they're not claimed off waivers.

10. Standings / Draft tiebreaker
If two teams finish with the same number of points in the standings, the tiebreaker is as follows:
1) The team with the most wins
2) The team with the best head-to-head record between the 2 teams
3) The team with the best goal differential in head-to-head games between the two teams
4) The team with the best goal differential for the entire season
5) The team who has scored the most goals in the entire season
6) Random draw

11. Changing a player's position
For forwards who are known for playing more than one position, you can request to change their position by posting in the Changements de Positions part of the forum.  Please provide a link as proof along with your request.  Links must come from one of the following websites:
hockeydb.com (* Forward is not acceptable)
hockeyreference.com
hockeydraftcentral.com (positions written at the top of player profiles.  Draft lists & positions mentioned in the longer player summaries are not accepted)
NHL.com
TSN player bios, such as (https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/player-bio/cory-emmerton)
previous years' LVP rosters.

Each team has a limit of 10 changes per season.  This limit does not apply in the playoffs or offseason.  To help keep everyone sane, please try to only change positions in the off-season once you know what your lineup is pretty much set in stone for the following year.

(Even though there's the odd player like Byfuglien who has played both forward & defence, these types of position changes are not allowed).

12. UFAs & trades
A UFA who signs in the offseason must be on the roster a minimum of 20 games before they're eligible to be traded by their new club.

13. The Eric "the Fish" Fichaud Rule
A club who only has the minimum 4 goalies can't lose a goalie via waivers.

14. The Gord Donnelly Rule
A player claimed off waivers must play at least 10 games with the pro club before the club can trade/waive him.

15. The Byron Leftwitch Rule
The Byron Leftwich Rule from the NFL Draft. Each team has 24 hours to announce their draft selection.  After 24 hours, the draftmaster will automatically draft for the absent GM by giving them the highest ranking player that remains on the draft list.  If more than 24 hours have passed & the GM shows up before the Draftmaster, the GM can choose any player he wishes.

16. Pro roster limit
The maximum number of players allowed on the pro roster is 25.  This limit is temporarily adjusted to 26 players while a team has 3 injuries.

17. Keith Brown Rule
A player with a long-term injury (60 CD or less) cannot be traded.

18. Wolf Rule
Any former GM who returns to the league will not be permitted to make any major transactions that do not make sense.  This rule will be in effect until he has demonstrated his long-term commitment to the league.
